Farouk AJR wins in sensational race the
Marei Rach - Hall of Fame Award
From the start, when Gunther Rach takes the lead, Farouk AJR soon approaches and an impressive and fantastic battle between the two marks the Marei Rach - Hall of Fame Award, with victory for Farouk AJR (Feitizzo Rach X Fascinacion by Adventure Aladin) ridden by Fernando Larroque crossing the final disc with three advantage lengths.
This was the sixth purebred Arabian race of the 2019 calendar. The race was run over 1,10m, on dirty, for three years old and upwards Maiden Horses and was held on August 10 at the Cidade Jardim Hippodrome, São Paulo Jockey Club.
Gunther Rach (Eksort Rach X Geneve AJR by Second Chall), for the fourth time in second place in races, was ridden by V. Souza and opened up nine lengths over AF Saci (Af Maden X Af Ramda by Nesperado), ridden by G. Santos. Gunther Rach is trained by Luis Quintana and owned by Paulo Jamil Saliba, also his breeder through Rach Stud Agropecuária Ltda.
“This was the third consecutive race I rode Farouk AJR. In the first we finished third and since the trainings I already felt that he had potential. This time he started well and showed a great desire to race and as we approached Gunther Rach I thought I had a chance of winning. I asked and he answered and in the final meters we managed to open three advantage lengths. It was a great race and well fought with Gunther Rach, who is an excellent horse, but Farouk AJR was keen to race”, said Fernando Larroque.
Trained by G. J. Santos and bred by Almir José Ribeiro, Farouk AJR gets his first win for owner Rodrigo Schulze. “I was expecting this victory since the first race and being a Maiden horse was supposed to have shown his potential before, but he has matured and I hope it will not be only in this first winning. By the time I saw him next to Gunther Rach, without underestimate his opponent, I knew he would win this time”, said happy owner Rodrigo Schulze.
Among the maiden horses the highlight of this match was the animal AF Saci bred by Fazenda Fortaleza (the oldest Arab Horse breeder in activity in Brazil), presented by José Antonio Cardinalli Filho, trained by Tiago Lopes and ridden by G. Santos arrived in third place.
Almir José Ribeiro, Racing Director of the Brazilian Arabian Horse Breeders Association (ABCCA), emphasized the importance of this race by stating that "the Marei Rach - Hall of Fame Award was an initiative of the Brazilian Arabian Horse Breeders Association with the sponsorship of the Abu Dhabi Heritage Arabian Racing Club, HARC, which paid a fair tribute to one of the best horses of the Arabian breed that participated in the races in Brazil, having competed in 17 races, winning four, finishing eight in second place and accumulating an award of R$ 67,724.20.”
The brothers Paulo and Ricardo Saliba of Rach Stud Agropecuária Ltda., breeders and owners of Marei Rach (Voltaire Rach X Melina Rach by * HS Titian) received the Brazilian Arabian Horse Racing Trophy - Hall of Fame for the record achieved.
“The trophy was a beautiful tribute to one of our top horses. He has twice won the Arabian Horse National Cup and has given us the joy of winning GP Jamil Saliba. He was second in the first Group 1 race in Brazil, GP Al Maktoum 2018, sponsored by Shadwell Arabians. He is now being used for breeding and running Endurance trials very easily. It is an excellent horse, very healthy and still with a lot of future in Endurance and breeding”, said Paulo Saliba.
“It was a great race from Farouk AJR and Gunther Rach. A beautiful coincidence is that Farouk is the son of Feitizzo Rach and Gunther is the son of dam Geneve AJR. They are two breeding that work together for the future of Arab races in Brazil. The maiden horses made regular races for the sake of loose sand and hot, dry weather. But everyone has the potential to improve”, commented Ricardo Saliba.
The Marei Rach - Hall of Fame Award was an absolute success with a match that was attended by nine animals aged 3 to 4 years.
The Marei Rach - Hall of Fame Award was sponsored by Heritage Arabian Racing Club (HARC) and organized by the Brazilian Arabian Horse Breeders Association (ABCCA) and Sao Paulo Jockey Club.
