Gaea Rach conquers third win

The mare Gaea Rach won her third race in the W'rsan Stables Classic held on Saturday, July 20, at the Cidade Jardim Racecourse, São Paulo Jockey Club.

The race run over 1.300m, on turf for three years old and upwards, has been part of the 38th National Arabian Horse Show, as every year since the Arabian Races restarted in Brazil.

Gaea Rach (Almir SWSB X Gigi CRH by More Extrange JP) takes the lead in the start and in a sensational contest with Vigilius Rach, Mahatma Rach and Oneida Rach fight for first place to the front straight of the race.

In the final meters Gaea Rach opens advantage of five lengths and Egyto LA (Magnun Chall HVP X HLP Darkyna Fame by Legacy Of Fame) on the outside starts for second place.

Gaea Rach, ridden by Lucas Felipe and trained by Mário André, wins the W'rsan Stables Classic with two lengths ahead of Egyto LA, ridden by A. Mesquita, who crosses second also with two lengths ahead of Oneida Rach (Vaillant Rach X Odyssey LC by Hardun), ridden by E. Pereira, third placed.

According Mário André, Gaea Rach trainer, “she had two winning in 1000 meters in turf and two second places and at this distance we were a little apprehensive and hopeful, but when in the last few meters she sprinted and won with two lengths we were sure that she will still give us other winning. I want to congratulate the owner André Lahoz Mendonça de Barros for the trust and the brothers Paulo and Ricardo Saliba, from Rach Stud, for the excellent breeding”.

André has been Gaea Rach's trainer since 2018 when the mare started in the Arabian races. This is your second victory this year. The previous one was in the race held on May 25th, and she was ridden by J. Sousa.

"I was very happy with the victory and, most of all, with the Arabian horse racing project. Congratulations to all the organizers for their efforts and success to all participants," commented the owner André Lahoz Mendonça de Barros. 

Mahatma Rach (Sarmata X Magic All Rach by Ulysses Rach), mounted by V. Souza, winner of the June 22 race and setting a record at 1000 meters, was fourth.

Congratulations to brothers Paulo and Ricardo Saliba of Rach Stud Agropecuária Ltda., breeders of Gaea Rach, for winning the third and fourth places.

“We were very happy with the victory of Gaea Rach. She proved to have great final acceleration in the last decisive meters. She is the daughter of 2002 Brazilian National Champion Stallion, the Swedish Almir, which was great runner in Poland and generated, among others, Millenium, horse who won the European Derby in Warsaw It's a race of lineage and Gaea will certainly have other great victories ahead! ”said Paulo Jamil Saliba of Rach Stud.

The W’rsan Stables Classic was sponsored by Heritage Arabian Racing Club (HARC) and organized by the Brazilian Arabian Horse Breeders Association (ABCCA) and Sao Paulo Jockey Club.
